GPS Monitoring and Ohio Bail Information
Electronic monitoring may be ordered by a court or considered during a case-specific release or surety review. Requirements must be confirmed for the individual case, court, county, provider, and jail procedure.
Who controls GPS or monitoring conditions?
The court controls release conditions. A judge or authorized supervising authority may require GPS, alcohol monitoring, location restrictions, curfews, reporting, no-contact terms, or other conditions. A bail bond company cannot remove or change a court order.
Questions to ask before arranging monitoring
Authorized provider
Which agency or provider is approved for this court and case?
Installation timing
When must the device be installed, and does the jail need proof before release?
Costs and rules
What setup, daily, removal, or violation procedures apply?
Violation process
What happens if the device loses signal, the person leaves an approved area, or a condition is violated?
How GPS can interact with bail
Monitoring may be one part of a release plan, but it is not a promise that bond will be approved, lowered, posted, or processed faster. Bond amount, court order, jail procedure, surety requirements, payment review, collateral review, and provider requirements may all matter.

GPS Monitoring FAQ
Can Butler Franklin remove a GPS condition?
No. Only the court or authorized supervising authority can change a GPS, monitoring, curfew, or release condition.
Does GPS monitoring guarantee release?
No. Monitoring does not guarantee approval, posting, lower bond, or release timing. The court, jail, provider, and surety requirements must be reviewed.
Who installs GPS monitoring?
That depends on the court order, county, provider, and supervising authority. Families should confirm which provider is authorized for the case.
What should families ask before arranging monitoring?
Ask who installs the device, when installation must happen, what fees apply, what proof the jail needs, and what counts as a violation.
Can GPS affect a large bail bond review?
It can be part of release or surety review in some cases, but requirements are case-specific and court-controlled.
